Our Weekend

We had such a fun weekend. Jake got home on Friday (May 18th) after being gone for a long 5 weeks. He only got to be home for 3 days before he had to leave again so we tried to enjoy every minute. His ship left again today for a couple months. They are headed to New York first. Luckily for both of us, Jake gets to fly home from New York next monday and won't have to be gone for all that time.
Friday was the last time I will ever be picking him up from the ship (since next time I pick him up he will be at the airport). It is such a weird feeling. We can't believe there is only 1 more week left.
I tried to get a picture of Jake walking down the pier. He was a little too far away and my camera would only zoom in this far.
On Friday we went on a lunch date to Red Robin. That is one of our favorite restaurants and we had both been craving it. It was SO good. (Is it sad that I eat more than Jake when we go??? He can barely finish his burger and usually has leftover fries (that I eat along with extras I have them bring out) I just can't get enough of those french fries... haha)

On Saturday we went to the Chesapeake Jubilee Festival. It was kinda lame but we still had fun.

I knew I should have worn sunscreen. It wasn't that sunny/hot so I thought I would be fine...guess I was wrong. It's funny cus I had a side ponytail so half of my side is white :)

Things are finally starting to happen at the oceanfront. We missed out on going last summer and the summer before Jake was gone a lot so I am determined to go to the oceanfront activities the rest of the weekends we are here. They always have fun things going on and we both really enjoy going. We will really miss all the fun when we move.
The first band we listened to was ok.
It was really funny cus there was a guy that was really into this band. He was singing along and dancing a little to every song and he would get so excited when they started playing a new song. He was funny to watch.
We headed down the boardwalk some more to the area we usually go to and there was a good band playing right on the beach.
There were a bunch of people up by the stage dancing so we joined them. It was such a fun night. I'm excited to spend many more nights here this upcoming month.

After church on Sunday we went to the ship and got everything that Jake won't be needing while he is gone this next week. It was a bittersweet experience for Jake. He is so excited to be done and not be gone all the time but I know he is really going to miss the couple of guys that he works with in the office.
The 3 days went by way too fast but we are really looking forward to him having all of next month off and just getting to hang out.

  1. I am glad he's almost done Chels! That is so exciting! I'm headed down to the Outer Banks in North Carolina this weekend and I'll wave as we drive through. I can't wait for you to come up to DC I got excited just thinking about it! Let me know when you're thinking of coming up and we can make plans!
