Our Month So Far

This month has been a lot of fun! Jake is on leave so neither of us have to do anything any day. We have been trying to do as much stuff here as we can before we move. We've been going to the beach, going swimming, sightseeing, and laying around watching lots of T.V. It's been nice.

Jake flew home from New York on May 29th. He started leave on the 28th and was supposed to fly home that morning but when he got to the airport there was something wrong with the plane so they had to reschedule it for the next morning and he had to spend one more night on the ship. I was a little mad but glad it was only for 1 more day

Since Jake now has the freedom to do whatever he wants with his hair he convinced me to give him highlights. He said it is something he has wanted to do for a long time so I gave him a few.
Haha they actually turned out kinda cute. I also bought him some new pomade gel for his hair and for the first week after getting them done he just thought he was the coolest thing ever. He always had his hair done and I would catch him looking at himself in the mirror and admiring his hair and making sure it looked perfect (even when we went to the gym one day). Haha it was pretty funny.

We bought boogie boards one day and they are so much fun! The first day the waves were perfect- it was so much fun! We've been trying to go a lot before we move.
The waves were crappy this day at this beach. We ended up going to a different beach where they were a little better.

We have been trying to go to Pungo Pizza as much as we can before we move. We love this place so much! We will really miss eating here.

On Saturday (June 9th) Jake planned a date for us. He wouldn't tell me what we were doing. First we went to the aquarium. We have talked about going there since we moved here but just never have. It was pretty cool.

After going there we went down to the oceanfront and ate dinner at a place the was right on the boardwalk. We could see the ocean from our table so it was really cool.

I tried to get a picture of us at our table with the view but it didn't really work out so here's what it was like.

We walked down the boardwalk and listened to some music and looked around.

We thought it was a little weird that somebody was at the beach in the middle of June in a trench coat. Seriously? Kinda sketchy I thought...

Pocahontas?

Later that night we met up with some of our friends and went and saw The Avengers. It was a really fun day!

A few days ago we were driving and saw a car on fire. It was kinda funny.

I am going to miss how pretty it is here! I love all the trees here! Today (June 14th) we went to Williamsburg and went to the Outlet Malls.
And did some sightseeing.
We tried to go to the Jamestown Settlement but we got there a little late so we sat outside and looked around.

Here's a few pictures that Jake took when he was in New Orleans in April and New York in May:

Some guys he met that are from Oregon
Here's Jake's home away from home. And yes, those are Mario sheets. I gave them to him for his birthday last year.

He was really excited because while they were in New York he got to go to one of the fire departments and get a tour and they gave him a t-shirt too.

Marking off the days til he can be done and come home. He did it!

We are just trying to enjoy our last few weeks that we have here. We leave on June 25th. We are so excited to move and be close to family but we are really going to miss it here!

  1. Chelsey and Jake, Bryan and I admire the strength the two of you had and have. Making through a deployment is not easy. We wish you both the best of luck. I know that our paths will cross again. ~Reiko
